We serve children, teens, their families, and the community by addressing the improvement of adaptive behaviors through developmentally-appropriate, function-based and individualized behavioral interventions. We serve children exhibiting behavioral excesses and deficits associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders as well as the challenging behaviors of children without a diagnosis of ASD.

Utilizing strategies that are consistent with scientifically-established principles of behavior, we design each child's program to address socially important issues across the home, school and community settings, and objectively measure behavior before, during, and after interventions to determine the effectiveness of those interventions.

Our behavioral intervention programs are designed to teach foundational skills across core deficit areas: communication, socialization, functional daily living skills, organization and executive functioning, play skills and more.

Concurrent with services to our child clients, we provide individualized education and hands-on coaching to each child's parents and family, using the same scientifically-established principles of behavior to teach families to effectively utilize the same or similar interventions to support and reinforce their child's progress.

Support for ABA
The U.S. Department of Health and Human services wrote the following in 2008: "Among the many methods available for treatment and education of people with autism, applied behavior analysis (ABA) has become widely accepted as an effective treatment. Mental Health: A Report of the Surgeon General states, "Thirty years of research demonstrated the efficacy of applied behavioral methods in reducing inappropriate behavior and in increasing communication, learning, and appropriate social behavior."

When to Start
Behavioral intervention should begin as soon as a diagnosis is given (Autism Spectrum Disorders, 2008). If your child has been diagnosed for some time, do not give up hope. ABA has successfully improved the behaviors of many individuals with Autism beyond the "early years."

Parent Participation
The most successful intervention programs are those with ongoing parent participation and involvement, from the very start. We come alongside parents and families and work together to solve difficult behavior challenges. We train and expect our parents to carry out the same strategies designed by the program supervisor and implemented by the child's intervention team. The most effective behavioral interventions are those that are generalized across the people and places that are meaningful to the child.

The Setting for Behavioral Intervention
Initial intensive behavioral intervention is most-often based in the home. Once foundational skills are acquired, hours of home-based instruction by the behavioral intervention staff are gradually replaced with group instruction in the preschool or school environment. We will advocate with you for your child's educational placement in the least restrictive environment. It is preferable that your child attend school with peers who will model appropriate social, language, and play skills. Intervention programs can consist of in-home teaching and support only, school-based training and support only, community-based teaching and support only, or any combination of these.

Behavior Intervention Team
Your child's program will be staffed by a team of carefully trained and experienced interventionists: a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, a Program Manager, a Senior Instructor, and one or more other instructors. The behavioral intervention team is rounded out by you- the parent. You are a critical member of the team. Your active participation from Day One is vital to your child's success.

We staff our programs with trained and experienced instructors. We have designed our behavioral instructor training program to mirror the requirements for certification as a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Our instructors receive classroom hours of instruction as well as hands-on training in Applied Behavior Analysis. The majority of our staff have received extensive training and have successfully implemented behavioral interventions supervised by BCBAs for over 3 years.

Funding for Our Services
RAE is a Nonpublic Agency, certified by the California Department of Education; as such school district funding may be accessible given the approval of your child's IEP team. We are also vendored with the California Regional Center system. Funding may be accessible based on approval by your Regional Center. We can explore other sources of funding together.
