Summer Fun Social Skills Workshops

Are you concerned about your child's ability to play and interact successfully with other children? Are you concerned over your child's social isolation from peers? Does your child become frustrated because he/she wants to make friends, but doesn't know how to establish and maintain relationships with peers? For most children with social deficits, the skills needed to develop friendships do not develop on their own, but need to be carefully taught. To promote social interaction and friendship skill-building among children with and without special needs, RAE offers focused and fun social skills workshops during the summer.
Participants have the opportunity to learn friendship-making skills alongside typically-developing peers while on-site at RAE, as well as within the surrounding community. Led by our behavioral intervention staff, participants engage in activities targeted to develop conversation skills, turn-taking and game playing skills, theory of mind/perspective taking, empathy, self-management, flexibility, compromising, conflict resolution, and more.
